Welcome to the Philippine Heritage Watch! It’s about time we put in their proper places the stakeholders and custodians of Philippine heritage who stubbornly desecrate or destroy the architectural heritage supposedly in their care. In other words, this blog is a hit list of sorts.
Please contribute to this public awareness blog by sending photos of heritage sites that were desecrated (before, during and after shots when possible), the extent of the damage, what could have been done, and the names of those responsible (mayor, governor, parish priest, bishop, owner, etc.) so that we could let the public know through the blog. Send them to heritageconservationsociety@gmail.com.
you should see what the priest in Argao did to the centuries old main retablo. He had it painted in gold!
I just stumbled upon your site and I felt relieved that we have groups like you who advocates the protection of our historical & cultural sites.
Everyday its a fight for our kababayan’s awareness – your work has inspired me all the more to continue to share with people how valuable it is to preserve our nations heritage.
